Family Team Decision-Making

Family Team Decision-Making (FTDM) meetings help ensure the safety and well-being of children while supporting and guiding families at risk or already engaged in the child welfare system.  FTDM meetings are held for placement decisions involving child removal, change of placement, and reunification or other permanency plans.

The FTDM team is comprised of one FTDM facilitator and one bi-lingual FTDM assistant from Catholic Family & Child Service and two FTDM facilitators from the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS).  Trained facilitators help guide the meeting process so the best possible placement related decision can be made with a high level of participant involvement.
